Federal satellite vaccine sites giving 2nd doses will shift locations on Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Satellite vaccination operations for second doses will relocate to the Carver Recreational Center and the Oceanway Community Center, starting Sunday.

The state-run federally supported sites will give second doses to those who got their first dose there more than three weeks ago. They will remain open, offering second doses, for 10 days, until April 14.

The sites will open tomorrow at 9 a.m. Sunday and give out vaccines until 5 pm. They’re open seven days a week.

People are thankful the site is opening up for second doses because it’s where they got their first dose.

The site will offer second doses of the Pfizer vaccine for people 40 and older.

“When I see workers waiting to give the vaccine when I’m playing tennis, it’s convenient for the community,” said Alfredo Sy who lives five minutes away from the site.

Timothy Deng says he’s already gotten his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Oceanway and is thankful he can get his second dose at a place he often goes to play tennis at.

“I got my first dose of Pfizer vaccine within 10 minutes,” he said.

The sites are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.

The Gateway Community Vaccination Center on Norwood Road remains operational from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, providing first dose (500) and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine until Tuesday when it switches to the Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccine. Those who got the first dose of Pfizer vaccine at the site can still get their second dose there.

The Gateway site will be open on Easter from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. also, officials confirmed.
